The Day After QB

Had a great day yesterday. I try to hold a QB Day (quilt bee day) the last friday of the month. Quilting friends who can make it bring a project to work on and we quilt, visit and enjoy a potluck lunch together.

Yesterday there were seven of us that got together to quilt. So many wonderful projects were worked on including two who finished a new purse pattern in less than two hours. I'm sorry I forgot to take pictures. I will try to remember to do that next time.

Today I have to get back to work. I still have a couple of quilts and several wall hangings to finish for a local quilt show the second weekend in September and they still need time to bind them.

I'm also working very hard to get the September Treasure Hunt ready to go. Be sure to join us for it September 1 at Anilee's Treasure Hunt.

Rainbows are my favorite color!

I've been so busy trying to get customer quilts done for a local quilt show next month that I haven't had time to sit down at the computer to post.

Today, I had to share what I woke up to this morning. I started to turn on the computer when I heard thunder. Deciding it was best to leave the computer off, I went to the window to look out on the day. Needless to say, I was in awe.

This beauty was so big it took three pictures to get it all. The first shows the right side, the second shows the middle and the third shows the left side. I tried to catch the double rainbow in the fourth, fifth, and sixth shots. As you can tell, the first five are caught as the sun is coming up. What a beautiful orange glow. The last three show the blue skies as the sun comes out more and the storm starts to subside.

I deicided it was a message to slow down, take a deep breath and enjoy the beauty around me. So, I have been spending the last few hours doing just that and sharing this with you. Now, I am going to get back to work and finish a small project that is almost ready for the owner to pick up on friday when we get together for quilting bee (surprise Georgette).

I hope you enjoy the pics. Have a great day and look up from time to time. You just might see your rainbow.

Oh Deer, Oh Deer

Thought you might enjoy seeing what I watched in my backyard today. I used the zoom on my digital, so they're a little fuzzy, but I think you can still make them out ok. Still working on the Treasure Hunt pattern. Gotta get back to work now.

Til next time, hope you like the fawns.

Treasure Hunt Countdown

Been working most of the day getting the September Treasure Hunt ready to go. Still have a lot to do, but I'm sure it will be up and running on time.

A moment of excitement was late this evening. I caught these image as the sun went down. What an awesome sight.

Til next time, keep looking up!

Tiny Tot

What a Sunday. I was able to spend enough time at the machine to finish the last wall hanging for the order I was working on. Yeah, five quilts marked off the list, this customer order is complete.

Then, I got to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening with my grandaughter. She is such a joy. Because she lives quite far away, we only get to see her for a short time in the summer months. As you might be able to tell from the picture, it was a heavy duty play day. Her hair was in a nice braid down her back when she got here. Most of it was flying loose after play time. She is just one big bundle of energy. Wish I could bottle some of it to use when I need a little boost.

Well, I gotta get ready for another busy day. Thanks for dropping in to visit and have a Great Day!

The Countdown Begins

Boy, yesterday was a good day to quilt. For those of you who don't know me, I do professional longarm quilting for a living. In the summer it is a very tough job since my quilting room is not air conditioned. At times I feel like I'm quilting in an oven.

Well, yesterday was only a touch warm so I was able to keep busy non-stop. I started about 7 a.m. and put in twelve hours quilting three medium sized wall hangings one after the other. Although it was worth it, I put in a very loooong day.

I am slightly backed up at the moment trying to get quilts done for a local quilt show coming up next month. So, I will be putting in long hours to make sure they all get done.

The picture below is one of the quilts I quilted. It actually won ribbons for the quilting at a local quilt show. You can read more about it on my home page. Or, visit the sample gallery to see more of my work.

I gotta get busy now. I still have one more wall hanging for this customer to finish up her order so I better get to work.

Til next time, Happy Quilting!

Comfort Quilting

Yesterday was a great day. To fill you in, the local quilt guild I'm in has a project called "Comfort Quilts." When a fire, flood, tornado or other tragedy is found out by someone in the guild, the quilts we make and store up are given out to those who are in need of some comforting.

Several of us get together once a month to make these quilts. We start early in the morning, break for a short lunch and then get back to work. We usually wrap things up around 3 or 3:30.

Yeserday was a very productive day. We had several donations of cheaters donated that we were able to add borders to and make up very quickly. I did three of these and even managed to get the bindings made. Later in the month I will get them quilted.

A couple of the other members were making a new nine patch variation. They weren't sure what it was called but it sure was neat. You first make large nine patch blocks, cut them in half down the center and then in half down the opposite center. You turn two of the opposite corner sections and whala, a very neat design. It seemed to work best using either two colors or a light and a dark. Talk about easy, easy, easy.

Now for another busy day. I have to get at least three quilts done in four days. With a local quilt show coming up next month, I am pretty booked. And with the Treasure Hunt due to begin again the first of Sep. I am putting in lots of overtime hours trying to get things done. I think I will need a quilt retreat after September.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to drop in and visit. I will be back to chat again soon.

Til then, Happy quilting
